Join me in September 2027 in beautiful Tuscany for a 5-day creative printing retreat in the small medieval town Cittá della Pieve. In the old streets adorned by overflowing flower boxes you will be able to experience Tuscan life in peace, as it is one of the few beautiful and characteristic places that is not overrun by tourists. You will love to call this town your home for a few days, wander around the cobbled streets, have a coffee in the piazza and meet the locals. For me Tuscany is a perfect place to learn to print (or to further develop your printing) as you will find art and culture around every corner, as well as natural beauty in abundance.

This retreat is hosted by Strada Toscana who have been organizing journeys and retreats in Italy for almost two decades and work together with a local guide who will accompany us through the stay, will be able to tell everything there is to know about this beautiful part of Tuscany, help us find the inspiration we are looking for and take care of practical issues.

We will explore the town and have some wonderful excursions while taking in inspiration, finding stylised floral motifs in Renaissance frescoes and decorative church details, as well as flowers cascading down from the balconies. Then we go to the studio and spend time together in learning all the different stages of my stencil printing process, from learning brush techniques for creating depth and texture in your prints, to working with multi stencil motifs for making more detailed prints, to eventually making repeat patterns. Whatever your style or level of experience, the course will meet you where you are and take you where you want to go.

We will stay at the beautiful boutique hotel Vannucci and have our meals at several traditional trattorias. Our local guide will take us to the beautiful historic town of Pienza, as well as to the church and palazzo of Cittá della Pieve. And apart from learning to print we will also learn to make pasta together.

By the end of this workshop, you will have gained the skills and confidence to continue your printing journey at home. As part of the course, you will receive a set of brushes to keep, the fabric pieces you have created, and a collection of informative materials covering the techniques explored.

The course fee is inclusive of all necessary materials, including fabric, so you can focus entirely on your creative exploration.

I this speaks to you find the complete itinerary for this retreat and all practical information at the website of Strada Toscana. If you want to know more about the course itself, the technique or anything else I can help with, please let me know.
